Although rhinoplasty operation is the most popular aesthetic operation today, it is an operation from which the expectations of the patients are different and the healing process varies.

Everyone’s immune system is different from each other, such as the reduction of edema, the disappearance of bruises. The aim of rhinoplasty operations is to create a breathable, functional nose structure while giving aesthetics and naturalness together.

Nose functions must be preserved. In particular, the nose structure should be shaped in such a way that the patient will be satisfied for a lifetime.

Swelling and bruising under the eyes are expected after nose surgery. However, this bruising and swelling varies according to the characteristics of the surgery. In general, bruises go away on their own after one week and ten days.

However, edema and swelling disappear in a longer period. The visible side of the swelling decreases in the first 2 months. However, it will take 2 years for the nose structure to completely heal and the edema to pass. Patients do not experience any problems with pain.

WHY DOES THE EDEMA OCCUR?
Nose skin and cartilages are sensitive. Therefore, it is normal to see swelling. Edema is also seen as part of the healing process. The edema in the nose passes within 6 months, and the reduction of the swelling in the entire nose may continue for up to 1 year.

DOES EDEMA HEAL AFTER RHINOPLASTY?
Nasal edema after nose surgery is a spontaneous physiological and natural response. The whole body naturally experiences edema when there is a trauma.

It is part of the healing process. Nasal edema that occurs after rhinoplasty operation, on the other hand, is prominent and causes an effect that delays healing.

The formation of edema in each area of the nose and the recovery of edema occur in different periods. The edema that occurs first descends from the top to the bottom and disappears over time. Edema problems that occur in people with thick nose skin heal later, and people with thin skin structure recover earlier in edema.

Healing of edema occurs at a rate of 80-90% within 6-7 months after the operation. Therefore, the skin structure and thickness of the patients should be evaluated before the surgery.
