Successful post-operative period is as important as having a successful nose surgery. Light red fluids coming from the nostrils in the first week after the surgery will be an indication that everything is in order. In this case, you don’t have to worry. Again, it is very natural to have swelling on the face and bruises around the eyes in the first week after the surgery. Sleeping with your head up is one of the most important parts of the treatment and recovery process. During the day you can lie down or rest in a sitting position. Although it is not recommended to watch television and work with a computer, it can be applied with a time limit. It is okay for patients who feel good to go out.

Applying ice to the face after nose surgeries is not recommended unless your doctor recommends it. Taking a warm shower 48 hours after the surgery will relax you and give you the signals to return to your normal life. There is no harm in touching the splint worn on the nose, it is recommended to dry the area with soft movements after showering. It is extremely important that you use the sprays, solutions and medications given for nasal cleaning and treatment as recommended by your doctor. Sneezing won’t hurt your nose. In such a case, you should try to sneeze through your mouth by tilting your head slightly forward. The most important thing you should pay attention to is not to get hard blows to your nose area for the first 3 months after the surgery. During this time, you should protect yourself from children and strictly avoid activities involving balls. When going up and down stairs, you should be extremely slow and careful and you should definitely prefer to wear comfortable sports shoes.

During the 6-week period after the surgery, bloody mucus-like pieces may come from your nose. Do not make any special effort to clean them. Do not forget to use the creams recommended by your doctor for the treatment and softening of the inner area before going to sleep at night. When you wake up in the morning, you can make the pieces come out humming, but not violently. Remember that your sense of smell will not be as sensitive as before about 3 months after the surgery. If you see

  • Asymmetry in your nostrils,
  • Numbness at the tip of the nose,
  •  excess skin in certain areas,

consult your doctor. In this process, you should know that the person you will consult the most is your doctor. Ignore the advice and application recommendations from your environment and act according to what your doctor says.

From time to time, you may experience a feeling of congestion in your nose and breathing problems. You can be sure that your complaints will pass in time. Within the recommendation of your doctor, you can swim and sunbathe 2 weeks after the operation, provided that it is not during peak hours. You may not be allowed to wear any glasses, including sunglasses, for the first 3 months. The duration should be determined by your doctor, not yourself. Don’t be afraid to touch your nose. During the healing process, you may experience acne in your nose area. In such a case, cleaning regularly with soaps with high pH will eliminate the problem. Never think about getting skin care before 3 months. Although it is not inconvenient to take a warm shower whenever you wish, it is recommended to stay away from the Turkish bath, sauna and solarium for a certain period of time.

In the first 6 months after the operation, your nose will take the shape it should be. The swelling will go down and the operation will be visible. Do not be influenced by what is said around you before this time and focus on having an effective healing process. The healing process cannot be accelerated and improved by external interventions. Time will be the best form of treatment for you. If you are satisfied with your new self when you stand in front of the mirror, your quality of life and self-confidence will increase day by day.
