Protective Rhinoplasty

Nasal ridge sparing rhinoplasty is the most up-to-date method in rhinoplasty. As the name suggests, the main purpose of this method is to preserve the natural functional structure of the nose and achieve the most ideal result.
With Protective Rhinoplasty, the connection in the natural structure of the nose is preserved and the aim of correcting the deformities of the nose is achieved. Problems such as bumps, arches and curvatures are corrected without breaking the connective tissues in the nose. The entire nose block is lowered until the ridge of the nose is in the targeted image. Thus, the anatomy of the entire roof is preserved without changing the main structure. However, in the Protective Rhinoplasty technique, the legs are cut using tools (saws) specially designed for this technique, and the cartilage and belt are removed from this area.

For whom is it suitable?
It is suitable for everyone who is in good health, who is disturbed by problems such as nasal arch, bump, curvature, and who has a faster recovery process by preserving the natural structure of the nose.

Protective Rhinoplasty does not harm the natural structure of the nose as it preserves the bonds between all components in the nose. Another important advantage is that it provides very fast recovery. The patient can easily return to work and social environment a few days after the operation. Very little pain, edema and swelling is expected. There is no incision mark on the tip of the nose. Since the patient’s natural nasal ridge is preserved after the operation, there is no disproportion in the ridge of the nose. In addition, since the tip of the nose is kept mobile, there are no problems such as the tip of the nose being immobile (frosty).

Since the natural nasal connective tissues are preserved, there is no fall at the tip of the nose.
Conservative rhinoplasty has no known disadvantages compared to other surgical techniques. Another very important advantage of this method in terms of its application is that it allows the patient to breathe better by widening the nasal valve area, which narrows the air passage through the nose. Conservative rhinoplasty is an increasingly popular method due to these advantages of rhinoplasty. It can be successfully applied by a limited number of physicians in our country.
Protective rhinoplasty surgery is performed under general anesthesia. The average operation time takes 2 hours. It is applied with the closed method in which incisions are made through the nose, which prevents the formation of an incision visible at the tip of the nose. First, the cartilages are removed to correct the curved parts of the nasal midline septum cartilage, if any. Various grafts are used to fix these cartilages. Afterwards, the nasal tip cartilages are delivered and brought to their natural shape.

If there is a curvature or arch on the back of the nose, the cartilage tissues are cut and removed, the nasal ridge is corrected and the tip of the nose is positioned appropriately. The operation is completed with a splint / splint and protective tape.
Within a week, the recovery is largely completed quickly. During the recovery period, heavy exercise should not be done for a few weeks, alcohol and cigarette should not be consumed for a week, and should not be exposed to sunlight.

In the classical structural rhinoplasty surgery, the excess bone and cartilage on the nasal ridge, the arch are removed, the nose is broken and narrowed, and the entire nasal ridge is redesigned in accordance with the new shape. In the protective rhinoplasty (let down), the natural nasal cartilage and bone structure of the patient never deteriorates, instead, bone and cartilage strips are removed from the inside of the nose and the arched shape of the nose in the side view is corrected.

Today, it is a popular rhinoplasty method that gives the most natural-looking results in rhinoplasty and provides rapid recovery. At the same time, the Preservation Rhinoplasty technique is safer than other methods, and its long-term results are permanent and predictable.
